OUR STORY
My love for baking began at the age of seven, in the kitchen with my grandmother, Maureen Adkin. She was my greatest inspiration and the heart behind everything we create at Sugar Bliss. In the 1990s, she ran "The Old Firehall Coffee Roastery," a beloved café in downtown Nanaimo, British Columbia. Despite its eventual closing, my grandmother’s passion for her craft never faded, and her vision has always lived on in my heart.
Before her passing in September 2023, my grandmother encouraged me to pursue my dreams with love and dedication. In May 2024, Sugar Bliss was born—a tribute to her legacy, built on the recipes and techniques she perfected over a lifetime. Sugar Bliss has since become a part of countless special events, from weddings and birthdays to corporate gatherings.
Our bakery began with custom cakes—sweet, beautiful creations for weddings, birthdays, and life’s most cherished moments. But over time, something magical happened. Our half-pound cookies began to take center stage, and they quickly became the soul of our brand. Today, Sugar Bliss is known for small-batch, luxury cookies that are freshly made to order and shipped across Canada—each one carrying a little piece of my grandmother’s legacy.
Now, as a mother myself, I’m building something that will grow with my daughter, just as my grandmother’s love for baking grew with me. Based in Hamilton, Ontario, Sugar Bliss operates as a licensed home bakery with a designated commercial space on the property, allowing us to bake fresh-to-order and ship our cookies across Canada.
